Newspaper Report:

Mrs. Loring, of 8, Spring Street, Haslingden, has received official notification of the death of her son, Private James Loring, of the 6th Battalion Border Regiment, whilst in action in the Dardanelles on July 21st.  Private Loring was 19 years of age.  He enlisted in October of last year, left England on June 30th, and was killed within three weeks of his departure. Previous to enlistment he was a weaver at Commercial Mill.  A memorial service was held at Haslingden Parish Church on Sunday morning, deceased being connected with the church, and also at the Mission Chapel.  The Vicar, Rev. G.W. Clarke was the preacher at the church, and Mr. Yardley was the preacher at the Mission Chapel.
