|Pte Abraham Garnett|
King's Own (Royal Lancaster Regiment)
Killed in Action,
8th May 1915,
Commemorated Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial.
Private Abraham Garnett, of the King's Own Rifles, lived at Flip Road, Haslingden, prior to enlisting. He was in several battles in France, and has been missing since the battle of Ypres. His wife received word from the War Office late week to say that Private Garnett "was dead or died since the battle of Ypres." He had been connected with Haslingden Parish Church, and was highly respected in the town.
In loving memory of my dear Husband, Pte. Abraham Garnett, King's Own Royal Lancaster'
"To-day brings back sad memory,
Of one who was called to rest,
And those who think of him to-day,
Are those who loved him best."
"May his reward be as great as his sacrifice."
From his wife.
