His many friends will learn with deep regret that Private. James Kay, East Lancashire Regiment, of 195, Maudland Bank, Haslingden, was killed in action on 19th January. A native of Helmshore, and aged 38, the deceased was brought up to Cronshawfold Farm, Helmshore, and attended Musbury Church and Sunday School. He was a weaver at Park Mill, and joined the Army last Whitsuntide. He leaves a widow and five children, for whom the deepest sympathy will be felt. A memorial service was held at Musbury Church on Sunday night, when the Rev. A. Winfield (vicar) officiated.
