Information has also been received of the death of Private James T. Fitton, of the Royal Welsh Fusiliers who was killed in action on September 17th.  He was 35 years of age, and was a native of Haslingden, being born in Laburnum Steet, and brought up at Bury Road Day School and Salem Sunday School.
He was one of the first boys to see the "Haslingden Guardian" on its publication 26 years ago.  He is eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. John Crowther, 23 John Street, Cheapside, Burnley, and prior to this had previously been slightly wounded, and was in hospital at Havre for six weeks.  He is a grandson of the late Thomas and Margaret Fitton of Laburnum Street, Haslingden.
Enlistment eighteen months ago, he was a weaver at Messrs. Catlow's Trafalgar Mill, Burnley.
