Newspaper Report:

Information has been received of the death, from wounds, in France, of Driver James Ferguson, A.S.C., whose home is at 43, Rake Foot, Haslingden.
When the war broke out Driver Ferguson, was a reservist, having fought in the South African War.  He rejoined on August 5th the day after the war broke out, and was therefore one of the first men from Haslingden to enlist in the present war.  He was then employed as a stripper and grinder at Victoria Mill.  He had gone through the whole of the war without a scratch until he received the wounds from which he died on the 5th of May.  He was 37 years of age, and particularly well known in the district.
