Private Thomas Duckworth, son of Mr. James Duckworth of Smithies Street, Carrs, Haslingden, died of wounds received in action on May 27th, 1917.
The deceased enlisted in September, 1915, and after a few months training was sent to Egypt, and afterwards to France, where he served four months.
He has two brothers serving in France, and one in Salonika.
He was formerly a twister for the Hutch Bank Manufacturing Company, and is 33 years of age.
A memorial service was held at Trinity Baptist Church on Sunday evening.
