Newspaper Report:

Official intimation has been received by Mr. Michael Curran, 35 South Shore Street, Haslingden, of the death in action of Private Michael Curran of the Border Regiment, who was killed in France on October 21st.  He was 21 years of age; enlisted on April 30th of the present year, and went out to France about the second week in August.  The deceased, who was very highly esteemed, was associated with St. Mary's R.C. Church, Bury Road, and was a popular member of the Irish League and Catholic Clubs.
He was formerly a grinder at Longholme Mill, Rawtenstall.  Another brother is serving in the 6th Dragoon Guards.
