Newspaper Memorial:

In loving remembrance of my dear husband, Private Benjamin Matthews, who died of wounds received in action in France, April 19th, 1918.

"What happy hours we once enjoyed,
How sweet his memory still;
But he has left an aching void,
The world can never fill.

Oft i think of you, dear husband,
And my heart is sad with pain;
Oh, the world would be a heaven
Could I hear your voice again."

"He gave his greatest gift - his life."

Fondly loved and sadly missed by his loving Wife Alice, 23 Cross Street North.
