Newspaper Report:

1) ENLISTED ON HIS NINETEENTH BIRTHDAY
Private James H. Ratcliffe, Loyal North Lancashire Regiment, who previous to joining up on July 5th, 1916 - his 19th birthday - resided with his mother, sisters, and brother at Back high Street, Haslingden, was killed in action on July 31st.  He was connected with Haslingden Trinity Baptist Chapel and Sunday School, and was employed in the warehouse at Stonefold Mill. 

2) A memorial service for the late Private J.H. Ratcliffe was held at Haslingden Trinity Baptist Church on Sunday night when Professor Rouse, of Rawdon College was the preacher, and Mr. J.E. Isherwood (Organist) played "The Dead March".
